Jack Benny's Love

Before celebrated comedian Jack Benny died of pancreatic cancer in October 1974, he arranged one final romantic gesture for his wife of 47 years, Mary Livingstone (pictured with Benny.) Benny left a sum of money to a local florist for one long-stemmed red rose to be delivered to Livingstone every day for the rest of her life. Livingstone, who had performed with Benny throughout most of his career, outlived her husband by nine years.

The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

I saw the ICE Bucket Challenge on the internet, and I didn't mind it.
I heard that celebrities are doing it, I definitely didn't want to hear about it.
I heard that they're doing it for a famous athlete, Pete Frates, but still that did not get my attention.
My first thought was, another crazy stunts from celebrities just to get famous.
My friends on Facebook are even posting about it.
I got curious, so I looked it up. I still didn't understand why such a challenge existed and became popular.
Finally, I logged out of  my AOL account and found a video in the website that interested me, the headline said something about a guy who cried over it.
And yes, the video did surprised me. I found out the reason why they're doing it.

It looks fun doing the challenge, and challenging other famous or powerful people to do it, but it has a more serious note about it.

Watch the whole video below to find out how serious ALS is, and why this guy actually appreciated that celebrities are raising awareness about it.

ALS is also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. In England and Australia, they call it MND or Motor Neuron Disease. It paralyzes the body little by little, until you can't use any parts of your body anymore because they aren't strong enough to move. Somebody has to do it for you, and that somebody has to be really patient.

According to www.alsa.org, "As motor neurons degenerate, they can no  longer send impulses to the muscle fibers that normally result in muscle movement."
To learn more about it, you can visit their site at ALSA.

It seems that Lou Gehrig was the first famous person who got diagnosed with such disease. He is an American baseball baseman for the New York Yankees from 1923-1939. He was famous in his time because of "his prowess as a hitter and his durability" (according to Wikipedia). There was a decline on his physical ability to play, and everyone noticed it, but they didn't know why. Only when his wife, Eleanor, called the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, and Gehrig flew in there that they found out what the disease was.

Lou Gehrig

Pete Frates, was the inspiration behind the Ice Bucket Challenge. He was a former college baseball star, and lost his voice because of ALS, and it seems that this disease has no cure yet. Because of the ICE Bucket Challenge, awareness about ALS has been raised by celebrities and more funding has been provided for this disease. Pete also is supported by friends, fans, and family and you can visit his website http://petefrates.com/ for any updates about him and his disease.

Pete Frates

Anthony, was the guy who cried in the video above. He has been diagnosed of ALS, and it seems that the disease runs in the family. Her grandmother died of it, and her mother has it for 10 years now. You can visit his website at http://anthonycarbajal.com/2014/05/i-have-als/, and check out his story.

This is Anthony Carbajal, the guy on the video above.

Does True Love Really Wait?

There are a lot of arguments everywhere about what true love is. We have grown in a world where sex and love are mixed in together that sometimes they really couldn’t distinguish if it was really love. Blessed are those who stayed in love even after having sex before marriage, and getting married afterwards.

What are you thoughts? Read on by clicking below.

Does True Love Really Wait?

Friends ‘R Us

Aside from our own family, we also have our friends to share our life with. They know who our first boyfriend was, our heartaches, our craziness, the stupid stuff we did, laugh trips, food trips, and whatever is going on with your life right now, they are one of the people you can trust with your secrets.
Can  you still remember how you met your best friend?
How about your childhood friends?
Read all about it and share your story, too! Friends 'R Us
"As we grow up, we realize it is less important to have lots of friends, and more important to have real ones."

Is It Still You?

In a relationship, we find that we aren't happy anymore and there are a couple of reasons why. Sometimes, we confuse ourselves on why we stay in a relationship. You might want to assess yourself if you’re still the same person before you met this person in your life, and after you have been together for how  many years now.

What were the questions that guided me to find out if I should stay or if I should let go?I have definitely opened my heart through this blog

Is It Still You?

READING: Where True Magic Hides

Why reach for the stars when you can reach for a book and have the stars, the sun, and the moon. (Photo Credits To: Jeah Dawn Ongcay)

Do you love to read? I do, too!

Do you have a list of books that you wanted to read? I do, too, but it seems that the list is endless!
When I was younger, my favorite subject was where I could read so many different stories! It takes me to a whole new world, just imagining what the writer has described. I can read even without pictures on them. I always had a little fun just running the characters in my head and how the scene would look like.

HOW TO MAKE NEW FRIENDSHIPS STRONGER & KEEP IT!

Get to know them at a more personal level. Nowadays, people rely on social sites to get to know a person. They see their status posted every day, pictures of what they do. Surprisingly, you’ll find out that they have more to give and share than what you see in Facebook, Google+, Instagram, Twitter, etc. You’ll find out what their dreams are, their plans, how they really feel, what is their stand on politics, sexuality, faith, and many others.

Here are 5 simple steps that you can try:

1)      Eat out. There’s nothing like breaking the ice by eating out, and have a cup of coffee afterwards. Just by eating lets you know where they eat, what type of food they’d go for, if they’re picky about food. With this simple step, you already have a simple idea of the kind of person you’re getting to know.
2)      Do an activity together. Call them up, and ask if they want to go to the beach, paint, volunteer, go to the gym, the list is endless! You just have to be prepared for whatever answer they’re going to give you. By doing this, they might even suggest something out of the blue that you have tried before, and you’re in for a great experience!’
3)      Meet their family. You don’t really have to be upfront about it. Just by simply saying, “Hey, can I go over to your place? I’m bored.” Chances are, they’ll say yes. Not everyone in the family might be at home, but eventually you will meet them all and find out the reason why you’re friend loves this and that, or why she doesn’t want to do this. You’ll see another side of your friend that might interest you, and usually this gives you more reason to become their friend, and be there for them.
4)      Talk. Real friends talk over a lot of things. It can be anything, from the craziest ideas to the most serious type of conversation. When you eat out or talk, make it a point not to hold on to your phone, iPad, or what have you. You don’t want to miss out on what your friend is actually saying to you. For calls from your parents, or something important, of course you can excuse yourself for a while and answer your phone. You know what we mean right?
5)      Be yourself. In this age, we usually don’t reveal who we really are because we’re afraid that they might not like us, or they’d judge you. But hey, it’s worth it. At the end of the day, they’ll know that you’re being real, no pretensions, and they can trust you more than anybody else.

To meet new friends, just visit and register our website Bbeez40Plus

Scammers targeting the lonely and vulnerable through Dating Sites

Last night I watched a show on SBS (Australia) relating to the increase of Scammers using Dating Sites to lure the lonely and vulnerable into handing over Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars. I must say, that my heart went out to those who had been scammed, one gentleman who had recently lost his wife had even mortgaged his house!!

This is indeed a worry and one that definitely needs to be addressed, they use fake files using people who are shall we say 'Attractive to look at'!!!! They are either in the Military, Business Executives, Divorced or Widowed, claim to have no children and travel a lot. They are extremely clever and obviously work in teams.
Using dummy documents and Government Certificates that look legit, it is a Multi Billion Dollar business world wide.

Our Authorities here are doing their best to crack down on these cruel heartless monsters (as that's what they are)! In an effort to save those from being the next victims. But they can only do so much, it is also up to the various Dating Sites to put in stricter protocol, as well as the individuals using the site.

When someone starts asking for money that in itself, should be a red flag, regardless of what they say and especially if Western Union is their preferred method.   Though that doesn't mean to say the the major banks haven't been used also!

At BBeez40lpus.net and BBeez40plus.com.au we have, to the best of our ability put in place methods to wean out those who are undesirable. Baring in mind that BBeez40plus isn't a dating site as such

A description of what we are all about it written below please take the time to read it and if you feel that this is something that you are looking for then please sign up, being a new site we'd love to help you on your journey of discovery, seeking out people of like kind

In love and light always

Bettyblue

BBeez 40plus a companionship site you can trust

This site is specifically for those who are genuinely seeking people of
like kind for companionship/friendship
or a little Romance but without the commitment

The Administrator of Bbeez40plus doesn't want the site to be seen as a dating site, thereby giving false expectations to those yearning for a committed relationship

This idea came to fruition a while ago, realising that NOT everybody is keen to venture down that path and for a number of reasons.

1.They're tired of all the hype and fake files that come with a lot of dating sites.
2.They're happy with their current lifestyle & are set in their ways
3.They're just happy to socialise on a very casual level
4.They may be looking for TRUE meaningful PLATONIC friendships
5.They're looking for friendships which may lead to benefits with strict mutual guidelines

Hence the idea with BBeez40plus is to give those who are GENUINE and
SINCERE an opportunity to meet people of like kind with similar interests to themselves either singularly or in a group environment.

Knowing that there are many BBeez (Baby Boomer's) & those over 40 who were extremely creative, fun loving and shall we say Adventurous in their day!!
It's purely to give members a chance to communicate and express freely their thoughts and views.
The Administrator wants to highlight the importance of being open and honest at the start, so as to eliminate any misunderstandings as to the true nature of the site. That's not to say that over time, some may find that they are ready, to take it to the next level, if this does occur then you have our blessings..:-)

As membership increases numerous functions, dinners, social events will be organised throughout the year, so all can meet in a safe environment and with the filtering system, we will to the best of our ability eliminate any undesirables

So if you believe in the BBeez vision then become a member and help spread the light

If you're anything like me and you love your pets, you do your utmost to make sure that they have the best foods. With the cost of living rising it's getting harder to maintain that level of dedication. I came across this report the other day which I think you'll all find not only interesting but extremely helpful.
Please click the link and check it out for yourself.
About to head out for their walk aren't they Cute

I was out the other day catching up with a friend for lunch and she informed me that she had just been made redundant. This blew me away as she'd been there for many years. During our rather despondent chat regarding what her next plan of action would be, a thought popped into my head.  'Start your own business, I said'   As we both came to the same conclusion, being in her late 40's the prospects of getting fulltime employment is rather slim.  Being a Animal lover like myself, it just made absolute sense. Pet Sitting!!

Now she's not only doing something she loves, she's also making a very good income, working the hours she wants, earning more than what she was being paid on a weekly basis!!! Can't ask for much more than that! So if you're an Animal Lover and are either bored with work or fed up with your current financial situation click on the link below. it could be the beginning of something fantastic.
