HOW TO MAKE NEW FRIENDSHIPS STRONGER & KEEP IT!

Get to know them at a more personal level. Nowadays, people rely on social sites to get to know a person. They see their status posted every day, pictures of what they do. Surprisingly, you’ll find out that they have more to give and share than what you see in Facebook, Google+, Instagram, Twitter, etc. You’ll find out what their dreams are, their plans, how they really feel, what is their stand on politics, sexuality, faith, and many others.

Here are 5 simple steps that you can try:

1)      Eat out. There’s nothing like breaking the ice by eating out, and have a cup of coffee afterwards. Just by eating lets you know where they eat, what type of food they’d go for, if they’re picky about food. With this simple step, you already have a simple idea of the kind of person you’re getting to know.
2)      Do an activity together. Call them up, and ask if they want to go to the beach, paint, volunteer, go to the gym, the list is endless! You just have to be prepared for whatever answer they’re going to give you. By doing this, they might even suggest something out of the blue that you have tried before, and you’re in for a great experience!’
3)      Meet their family. You don’t really have to be upfront about it. Just by simply saying, “Hey, can I go over to your place? I’m bored.” Chances are, they’ll say yes. Not everyone in the family might be at home, but eventually you will meet them all and find out the reason why you’re friend loves this and that, or why she doesn’t want to do this. You’ll see another side of your friend that might interest you, and usually this gives you more reason to become their friend, and be there for them.
4)      Talk. Real friends talk over a lot of things. It can be anything, from the craziest ideas to the most serious type of conversation. When you eat out or talk, make it a point not to hold on to your phone, iPad, or what have you. You don’t want to miss out on what your friend is actually saying to you. For calls from your parents, or something important, of course you can excuse yourself for a while and answer your phone. You know what we mean right?
5)      Be yourself. In this age, we usually don’t reveal who we really are because we’re afraid that they might not like us, or they’d judge you. But hey, it’s worth it. At the end of the day, they’ll know that you’re being real, no pretensions, and they can trust you more than anybody else.
